Couples Therapy
To Grow and Nurture Your Relationships
Your relationship(s) can be your greatest source of joy, connection and comfort, and yet, at times we find ourselves in a relationship that may need some fine tuning or a major overhaul. It is normal to ebb and flow within a relationship between connection and disconnection. Even good relationships can get stuck in having the same disagreement over and over again, as well as having times of miscommunication and lack of intimacy.
You are not alone. Seeking couples therapy doesn’t mean your relationship is doomed; as many couples come to a point in their relationship when an outside perspective can make a difference. I hold hope for couples as we work to rebuild intimacy, develop skills for communication, and deepen your connection with one another or find it again. I believe that we heal within relationships, both in the relationship we have with ourselves, and in the relationships we build and create with others.
I work with all partnered relationships at any stage of pairing. I welcome all sexual, cultural, spiritual and gender orientations. I will follow your lead and accept how you may define “couple,” “partner” and/or “relationship.” You may be at the joyful beginning of your relationship wanting to build a stronger foundation to help you weather the storms in the future. Or perhaps you are unsure about taking the next step in your relationship asking yourselves, “Are we meant to be? Would it be a good idea to move in together? Get married? Have a baby?” Or you might be in a long term relationship and not sure why you are together anymore, “I am not sure if I love them anymore. They don’t know who I am. We haven’t been intimate in such a long time. Can we work through another problem?” No matter what you’re currently experiencing with your partner, couple’s therapy can be helpful at any stage of your relationship.
I provide a safe, non-judgmental, empathic space for couples to explore and process changes in their relationship, and to share what is really going on from each person’s perspective. My goal is to create a safe, therapeutic environment, where both partners are able to share their concerns with one another, and be heard with less defensiveness and increased understanding.
The focus of couples work includes:
-
Guiding you to one another
-
Helping you become experts on one another
-
Finding ways to more successfully communicate with one another
-
To being heard and being seen
-
To discovering and accepting your differences and building upon your unique strengths
-
So that you both have a voice and your relationship can bring you both feelings of safety, joy and love.
"Love- the will to extend one's self for the purpose of nurturing one's own or another's spiritual growth" - Erick Fromm
Couples can benefit from working with me as I work to hold hope for you as a couple. We will partner together to uncover your strengths and what makes you both unique and complementary to one another. We will discover your areas of struggle and I will provide relationship tools to help your relationship grow and change.
